Duterte’s inauguration to be held in Malacañang; over 500 invited!

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's inauguration will be held in Malacañang and will be attended by just more than 500 guests, the incoming head of the Presidential Communications Operations Office said on Wednesday.

In a phone interview with GMA News, Martin Andanar said that up to 540 guests have been invited to Duterte’s inauguration on June 30 at the Palace.

The turnover ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the President’s Hall.
Duterte will then escort President Benigno Aquino III to the Malacañang grounds for his departure before going back inside for an official family photo.

Contrary to an earlier report, Andanar said that Duterte had yet to decide whether or not he would have a joint inauguration with Vice President-elect Leni Robredo.

Andanar, however, said that it would be impossible for all of Duterte and Robredo’s guests to be at the President’s Hall at the same time. He said Duterte’s chosen Cabinet members would also take oath at the same time, but their families had not been invited to the inauguration because of the limited space.

Protocol dictates that the Senate President and the House Speaker be present during the inauguration.
True to Duterte’s fashion, the inauguration will only be simple.

They will serve finger food such as Duterte’s favorite maruya cooked Davao-style. Juice will also be served.
Andanar also said that the artists who helped Duterte in the past will perform during the inauguration.

Duterte has also asked for the public to just monitor the inauguration at their homes to avoid traffic build up around Palace, Andanar said.

He added that widescreens showing the inauguration may be mounted in strategic areas for the public.
