Cayetano defends Digong over 'rape joke' issue: Duterte a protector of women

Earlier Sunday, Duterte's running mate Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano guarded the leader and said despite everything he considers him to be a fighter and defender of women, referring to the ladies' rights security program in Davao City. 

“We tried to be a good influence kay mayor as a conservative Christian. We talk differently, but alam ko ang puso ni mayor is a fighter, protector of women,” Cayetano said.

“Kung titignan mo ang ginagawa niya sa Davao bawal ang swimsuit sa beauty pageant, kung makikita niyo yung pano niya pinaglalaban yung mga kababaihan lalo na against violence,” he included.

The stand of Cayetano's VP rivals

Cayetano's opponents said rape is a genuine matter and denounced the mayor's joke. 

Solitary female vice presidential candidate Rep. Leni Robredo prior issued an announcement requesting regard for women however at the end of the day talked about Duterte's assault joke before the broadcast vice presidential debate on ABS-CBN. She said the comment is an affront to women.

Trillanes said he trusts that with these comments, the voters will figure out who to vote in favor of. 

“Seryosong mga usapan iyan at kinikita iyong pagkatao ng mga kandidato. Hindi natin binoboto dito iyong mga komedyante. Maaring nakakatawa for some pero it has very serious implications. Sana mamulat yung mga mata nila,” Trillanes said.
