A total of 352 individuals from 12 barangays in Quezon City went to the Quezon City Police District, where they underwent drug tests and were questioned about the source of the illegal drugs, according to a “24 Oras” report.
In an interview with GMA News' Susan Enriquez, the drug suspects that include pushers, users and couriers said they surrendered for fear of their lives.
A female drug user admitted she got scared by reports of suspected drug peddlers who were killed in police operations. “Baka po mangyari sa amin yun eh, mahirap na,” she said.
Another female drug user said: “Natatakot po kasi baka pati mga anak ko madamay.”
The Quezon City police, meanwhile, issued a stern warning against drug suspects who still refuse to surrender.
“For them na ayaw mag-surrender, we will declare war. Magka-conduct kami ng police operation kapag lumaban sila, alam na nila ang mangyayari. Bakbakan na,” said QCPD Deputy Director for Operations Senior Supt. Joselito Esquivel.
Duterte has said he is in favor of shooting criminals who will refuse arrest. He also offered a cash reward for every drug lord killed. The QCPD program that will process drug users who voluntarily have themselves tested as well as provide information on their source of illegal drugs is ongoing.
