Duterte to declare July 6 as national holiday

MalacaƱang is relied upon to proclaim Wednesday, July 6, as a national occasion in recognition of the end of Ramadhan or Eid al-Fitr.

Republic Act No. 9177, marked into law by then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, pronounced Eid al-Fitr as a standard occasion all through the nation.

Eid al-Fitr is praised by the Muslim world for three days after the end of the month of fasting. It is the main day denoting the end of the 30-day fasting time of Ramadhan.

In agreement to R.A 9177, just the Office of the President can report the last date for this religious occasion, upon the suggestion of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF).

As per a month-long calendar discharged by the NCMF, the Holy Month of Ramadhan finishes on July 5, Tuesday.
