Presumptive President-elect Rodrigo Duterte just added police Inspector Sofia Loren Deliu, also known as the “beauty queen cop” into his security detail.
We first got wind of her a couple of years ago, when the BS Tourism Management graduate was presented as among the 16 women (out of over 3,000 applicants) who passed the PNP’s entrance exam. A model since the age of 14, photos of Sofia garbed in police uniform and carrying heavy firearms during training quickly circulated online.
In 2015, she decided to join the Miss Earth Philippines beauty pageant where she made it to the Top 15. Her father was a policeman too.
She’s the second police officer who entered the world of beauty pageants after PO2 Niel Perez, who represented Philippines at the Mister International competition in Seoul, Korea.
Deliu was a graduate of BS Tourism Management before deciding to enter Philippine National Police Academy.
