A Petition To File Charges Against The Two Giant Networks for Airing Anti Duterte Ad

Few days before the much-awaited elections, a political ad aired by ABS-CBN and GMA Networks using children as the voice against Duterte went viral.

This petition is to sue ABS-CBN and GMA for the violation of RA 9006 "Fair Election Acts" and RA 7610 "Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act"

ARTICLE V
Obscene Publications and Indecent Shows

Section 9. Obscene Publications and Indecent Shows. – Any person who shall hire, employ, use, persuade, induce or coerce a child to perform in obscene exhibitions and indecent shows, whether live or in video, or model in obscene publications or pornographic materials or to sell or distribute the said materials shall suffer the penalty of prision mayor in its medium period.

If the child used as a performer, subject or seller/distributor is below twelve (12) years of age, the penalty shall be imposed in its maximum period.

Any ascendant, guardian, or person entrusted in any capacity with the care of a child who shall cause and/or allow such child to be employed or to participate in an obscene play, scene, act, movie or show or in any other acts covered by this section shall suffer the penalty of prision mayor in its medium

"the said networks from above, broadcasted an anti-DUTERTE political advertisements using children to attacked Presidentiable Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte. These political advertisements were aired last May 5, 2016 on two giant networks in the Philippines."

The ad speaks of Duterte's controversial remarks about taking one's life, sexual violence and respectiong not a religious leader.

The public however were shocked that the two networks allowed such ad which they are aware might not do good to the children involved.

It seemed that they have forgotten the law protecting the rights of the children and the fair election acts, RA 7610 and RA 9006, respectively.

Thus, the petition was initiated. The aim is to protect the involved children and stop irresponsible journalism.
